AI files need to be sent to Corel Draw, but they come out funny on the other end [on hold]

I'm working with another designer and I've created a bunch of pieces including both text and some objects in Illustrator CC. She is using Corel Draw and told me I could just make .AI files and send to her. She sees gibberish on her end. I'm a lifelong Photoshop user, but I've tried to use Illustrator to give her what she wants. I tried also saving as CS6 version. Sometimes she sees my files perfectly and othertimes not. The latest 6 x 14" piece she said actually crashed her Corel Draw. My file sizes are not large.

She needs the work in outline form so she can create stencils of my work, so I currently select all text, and Create Outlines. Then for the objects, I select with the magic wand, View Tracing Results, Greyscale, Save as AI CS6.

I'm sorry that I don't know a THING about Illustrator, but I've done my best with my Photoshop knowledge. Is there something I can do differently? Thanks!
