Confused about the resolution for IOS 6+ devices

I had designed one app for IPhone 5 and 6 and now I want to make the same app design for IPhone 6+ so what can be the resolution of its assets?

Currently I had done following things in Photoshop.

  • IPhone 5 or less: Icon Size= 55X55 (x)

  • IPhone 6: Icon Size= 110X110 (2x)

  • IPhone 6+: Icon Size= 165X165 (3x)

Still I am facing problem is slicing. Is is correct resolution? or what is the correct way to slice for IOS 6+ Devices?

Thanks.

But solution must be through code of HTML or CSS. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

How can I turn a polygon into a separate object?

Fighter jet i'm building. my first 3ds max creation

I'm trying to turn those wings/canards/engines into different objects, so they won't be affected by the smoothing I'll do later on. PS: don't mind that little glitch on the wing, that only happened due to the view "pos". PS 2: Any comments on my fighter jet? (any obs or suggestions)

Scaling horizontally but not vertically

I have a black shape like this:

enter image description here

That red square is not part of my shape. I just draw it so that divides my shape visually into two parts. I would like to only scale "the part of my shape inside red rectangle" horizontally (I do not want to scale "the part of the shape outside rectangle" horizontally). How can I do this in illustrator?

How to achieve pixel perfect curves with Photoshop CS6?

Coming from a mobile development background, I have recently decided to learn how to design for mobile apps. I am not yet decided which tool I should use. I don't hold much knowledge in Illustrator and Photoshop - but am trying to create a screen design using Photoshop.

I was under the impression that version CS6 supported vectors and I could create pixel perfect shapes. As you can see below, one the left hand side is a rectangle in Illustrator and a circle in Photoshop. I am trying to achieve the Illustrator end result in Photoshop.

Is this possible?

I am basically trying to do is a design of a button with that end result.

Thanks

How do I license my design without registering copyright?

A new T-shirt business would like to use my design for which I did not register a copyright officially but as far as I understand, under the international law, as the original creator of the content, I will be the copyright owner. So how will the process of licensing the design to the business be like(for a percentage royalty on the revenue). So how should the licensing process be like?

Photoshop CC: how to break up subpaths?

I can't figure out how to break a path's subpaths into separate, individual paths in Photoshop CC. Everything I find online suggests there is an Object menu (?) but I'm either too stupid to locate it, or it's not in Photoshop CC. I can't locate the information in Adobe's online documentation either. Is this not possible in CC?

Cintiq alternatives?

I typically work with traditional meda, however I've been wanting to get more into working digitally. I've had a Wacom Bamboo tablet for some time, but did not like it, due to the awkwardness of having to look up while I'm working, and the fact that I like to tilt whatever I'm working on. I've decided that I would like to have a drawing tablet with display.

Two options I've come up with are either the Monoprice 'interactive display' (linked below), or getting an older used Wacom Cintiq on ebay. I have found some decent reviews about the Monoprice (some have compaired it to older Cintiqs), but I remain suspicious of it. I've worked the options out to be about like this:

Monoprice: cheap (less than $400), more product support and more guaranteed condition (since it's new). However, (from what I've read), the glass thickness in front of the display is thicker, less driver options (from what I've read) and it is of questionable quality.

Used Cintiq: Potentially better quality, thinner glass, more driver options. However, it will cost more (around $500 for the cheapest), be used (thus of unknown condition), and little to no product support (since it is older and used).

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=113&cp_id=11314&cs_id=1131401&p_id=10707&seq=1&format=2

Does anyone have experience with this Monoprice tablet? Are there any other good alternatives? Suggestions, and such, are all welcome. I tend to use the Adobe suite (mostly photoshop, illustrator, and flash), and gimp.

Photoshop CC: render the 3d wireframe as a drawn 2d layer...?

I recently stumbled upon the 3D capabilities of Photoshop CC. I don't want to use them, but I could certainly use the wireframe grid that appears on top of the 3D objects because having access to it would help immensely for drawing 3D in a traditional 2D style when making paths.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to move the wireframe grid around and then save the image of the grid itself as a 2D image (into its own layer, so it can be shown and hidden). It's okay if I have to do it multiple times for different views. Is there some simple way to do this? More generally, is there any way to create a grid-like guide I can use to draw 2D paths from?

If not, I'll do something like create a teeny-tiny canvas, try to make a teeny-tiny 3d object, printscreen the image of the wireframe, then import it after cropping. But, this is clearly super-janky...

What's a good "not black" black / dark-gray?

I'm trying to find a good balance between black and gray where I can still say it's black, but not so dark as to not look like #000000 black; it shouldn't be identified as gray either.

To be used in a once pure black-and-white logo picture. I personally think pure black -- or pure anything -- looks a bit weird in this context.

Hopefully the answer comes in the form of a hex code or something comparable.

Perfect rounded corner?

I wanted to do a curve like the image bellow with Illustrator CS6. The problem is that I get corners all the time and even adding some anchor points I get my rectangle unaligned. What is the best way of achieving a smooth curve after a line? This comes from a rectangle and I didn't want to use rounded corners.

Two logos on a website header

So I have a client right now which is asking me to include a second logo on the website's header. I am no graphic designer but I feel this is so wrong.

The second logo is for one of the projects the company has.

Background. The company is into palm oil extraction and exportation. As of 2015 they need to be compliant with certain environmental guidelines and certifications. I guess this is why they want that second logo on the header, since the project is about Clean Energy Generation and is a big plus with stockholders and industry.

They are asking me to make a second header in which I am supposed two place both logos, and keep the actual image header below.

How can I make this work? This feels so wrong to me from a marketing and UX perspective.

How to determine a typeface's origin and whether I have a license?

I am currently working on the cover of a book.

I'd really like to include the typeface Rockwell Extra Bold which is installed on my system. However Rockwell Extra Bold seems not to be installed through OSX nor through the Adobe Suite (CS4).

Is there a way to find out how this typeface ended up on my system and thus whether I am allowed to use it in the context of a printed book?

I definitely did not download any typeface by hand to this system so it must have come through some software I legally purchased and installed.

I do wan't to be sure though before using it in such a context.

Thank you very much for any advice, I appreciate it very much!

Have a nice day! Tom

How exactly was the incorporation of the golden ratio in iOS 7 grid system>

I have seen the video in which apple introduces ios 7 and how their icons were designed with a grid system acting as a reference. I have also read about it and know that the grid system is based on the golden ratio. But I can't find any article that deeply explains how it was used in the grid system!

PCB Screen Printing Problem

I exposed the board under the sun at 2 pm for 12 min, it got slightly overexposed I think as washing the not exposed part was a bit struggling.

But when I started to print through it for the first try some part of the layout didn't print well. So I thought the ink might a little thick for it so I made it a little thin with thinner, but after that the ink was flowing through it, made the whole board a mess.

I am using a oil based plastic paint.

Where am I going wrong?

Here's a picture of the board on the second try.

Here's the picture of the screen

Illustrator - object placements slightly off

I'm currently lerning Illustrator and I started building some Lego bricks for learning purposes. Building them worked, but when I try to stack them over each other, they just won't align proberly. Take a look at these screenshots:

This is how it looks when I drag and hold my grouped Lego object

This is how it looks when I drag and hold my grouped Lego object to where I want it. As you can see, the paths align perfectly.

But if I let go, that happens

But if I let go, that happens. The bricks aren't properly aligned, the blue brick is slightly shifted up and left.

Why does this happen? And how can I fix it? Thanks in advance!

Reference points of the glyphs and scaling them

Suppose that I am designing a new font in either fontforge or fontlab and suppose that I already have a model font. What do I need to do so that the reference points of the glyphs in my new fonts is the same as the reference points of the glyphs in my model font and the corresponding glyphs would have the same scale? I just would like my new font to be consistent with my model font.

Removing white segment from a svg image

I am designing an Arabic font for which I have created the glyphs using MetaFont and processed the MetaFont sources with MetaPost. As a result, I got an svg image for each of the glyph. There is one problem that I am facing and that is there is a white segment in some of these glyphs that is unpleasant and I would like to remove that white segment.

For instance, please have a look at my Arabic digit 9, as you can see on the top part of this digits, there is a circular-like white segment that I like to remove. How can I remove this unpleasant white segment in illustrator?

Cutting parts of text using other text in adobe illustrator

I have created a logo in adobe illustrator however as you can see the picture below I wanted to cut part of the E in airforce of using the shape of the A in advice. I normally have the logo on a white background so for the time being I added a white stroke to advice to create the illusion of cutting part of the E of as well having a bit of a gap. However now I need the logo to sit on different backgrounds I think it is time to cut part of the e off properly and not cheat by using a stroke. Can anybody show me how?

Thanks in advance

Correct way of using a combination of serif and sans-serif typefaces for both web and print

I am a print as well as web designer and have always wondered how to use a proper/correct combination of serif and sans-serif typefaces in an article.

This goes for both print and digital publishing(web). How do factors like legibility vary between both these forms?

Examples would be great!

Illustrator opacity rendering on artboard vs. white objects

I recently stumbled on something curious: the white of the artboard and the white of white objects in Illustrator act quite vastly differently on translucent objects on top of them. For example, this is a 30% black square partially eclipsing a 100% opacity white square on the bottom right corner (boundaries shown by the red markers, the rest is artboard):

enter image description here

Although an intruiging and sometimes helpful feature, I am also concerned about how this will affect my ability to the judge colour and tone of exported translucent images. I am also assuming the lighter tone is a more accurate representation of the final output? What is this feature called, and can I toggle it?

can i make an outlined path thicker in illustrator?

i have downloaded some svg icons form the web which are all outlined paths. In illustrator i would like to make those paths thicker. Is there a way to do this? I know when a line is still in stroke-mode you can just adjust the size of the stroke, but once this has been converted to outlines i don't know if this is still possible?

thx

Default stroke width profiles are all bumpy? Uniform stroke width is still smooth

This This is what I'm seeing when I try to use the custom stroke width profiles (Width Profile 1, in this case). It didn't use to do this when I used it -- it used to be all smooth! Was there a settings I accidentally hit or something? Not sure what's going on. Any help would be appreciated!

Importing eps files as layers in Gimp

I have been trying to create an animation using 300 eps files. When I try to open all the 300 files as layers (File -> open As Layers), a dialog box appears for each file with the heading "Import from Postscript" .

I have to click on "import" button for every image, in order import the images.

Is there a way to avoid the appearance of this dialog box for each image, because clicking "import" for 300 times is not at all a manageable task.

Thank you.

Best serif web font for wide variety of scripts/glyphs

I'm developing a site with mixed content in a bunch of different scripts, mainly Latin, Cyrillic and Hebrew. There's also content in languages such as Lithuanian with an interesting variety of diacritics.

Whilst working on the design (in an extremely amateurish fashion) I was hoping to find a serif font for the main headings to compliment the sans serif base font. The Adelle font, as used by sites like the BFI looked great, but it appears to be exceedingly expensive. The vaguely similar (and free) Bitter font looks decent in Latin but seems to have no support for alternative scripts.

Roboto Slab does support Cyrillic (at least) but diacritics look very dodgy.

To be honest, certain diacritics seem to look bad in almost everything I've tried except the standard Nimbus Sans that is the default for my CSS framework. (I do not like its standard serif font - Liberation Serif - at all.)

My question is essentially: is there a good Adelle-like serif font with nice consistent support for a lot of glyphs?
