I'm trying to learn Cinema 4D at the moment, and I want to model a gear which is basically an outer ring with inner teeth:
First Pic is what I'm trying to model, second pic is the object browser with the splines and third pic is my final composition.
The inner teeth give me a headache. I use the demo version of R16 Visualize, which does not have the cloner object (and I think Studio is financially out of reach).
I started with two Circle Splines for the outer and inner radius. Then I created a linear spline for one of the teeth. I then copy/pasted, rotated and moved it 31 times (there are 32 teeth).
Finally I converted the two circles into objects, connected them and put them into an extrude. The teeth are in a second extrude.
There was a lot of eyeballing and I know that the teeth aren't uniform in the final result - It's "good enough", but it feels like I'm doing something wrong:
How would you go about this, knowing that MoGraph isn't available?
