Change list of font’s supported scripts

When I do otfinfo -s fontname.otf with a font (that support Cyrillic) I get the following result:

DFLT        Default
grek        Greek
latn        Latin
latn.AZE    Latin/Azeri
latn.CAT    Latin/Catalan
... etc

Mac's Font Book tell me following about the same font:

Script: Cyrillic, Greek, Latin

I have a problem that some apps (e.g. LaTeX) can't get info about Cyrillic script in that font.

How the list of supported scripts is formed? And is it possible to change it?
