How do I make seperate objects from my live traced drawing?

At the moment I use CS5 Illustrator. When I make a drawing I draw by hand, ink it and then scan it. Juse place in Illustrator then Live Trace and Expand. My drawings is always many small parts that I have to seperate from each other after using Expand. What I have been doing is that I have coping the drawing as many timea as I have different objects and jused Direct selection tool and remove everything on each copiing files exept one of each item on the drawig. I get the result I want but it takes a lot of time. So the question is: Is it a way to seperate all the objects from each other in a faster way?
