Text Created in CS6 for use in a website

indulging my self into the world of photoshop, i have created a text logo for use on a website, could any of you pro's give a few pointers as to format and size it should be created in, for use on the web. and if i save text with a transparent background, will that be able to be uploaded ok into the website, i've trawled the web without much success as of yet, so im hoping someone could aim me to a website or tutorial.
