"Show" is not active in "View" tab of Photoshop CC. Anyone know how to turn or toggle on?

Several things are not live when I open a new project in Photoshop CC. "Show" (to access grids) for instance, under "View" tab. And "Transform" under "Edit" tab. No matter what I add to my project (layers, imported photos, text, etc.) I can't find a way of activating especially these two, as I use them a LOT. Any suggestions?
