Edit text frame created with pen tool

I read in several articles that, once you made a shape with pen tool and filled it with text, you can edit this shape by selecting individual points with direction tool.

It doesn't seem to work for me though: I can't select individual points of my shape with this tool. I'm using inDesign CC, did they remove that functionality or something?
