Add colors to color schemes

I'm quite new to color theory, I read about color schemes and saw beatiful schemes at Kuler. But I wonder - what if the scheme I love doesn't contain blue or green while I need them for water, sky and grass? How can I add these colors to the scheme so that they harmonize altogether?
