Color palette to highlight phrases in printed text (black on white)

I have a huge mathematical expression and I want to provide a physical interpretation for each term in it. So I color the terms in the formula, and in the main text I use the same color to write the name of the physical effect it represents.

The problem is, I'm not sure what colors to choose to be distinct enough and still not disturbing for eye. Even if I choose them on my monitor (RGB), I cannot be sure if they will be printed well in CMYK.

Is there a predefined CMYK palette with no less then 5 distinct colors to highlight (mark out) separate phrases in a sentence on white background?
