I have perused questions about icons becoming outdated. I think the problem is that they usually derive from a physical object rather than the action involved (noun instead of verb). Even the spelling of words can change over time, to say nothing of pronunciations and different languages overall...
Because written Chinese has not changed for 6000 years, and the ideograms represent concepts rather than spoken words (all dialects of Chinese use the same written language, and have for millenia) I suggest using written Chinese. The only problem is designing a Chinese keyboard (500+ keys). Hmm. Nothing is perfect.
For you doubters, nothing says that we have to speak Chinese, since the billion Chinese people do not even speak the same language, and wordings have changed over time. Just adopt the written standard. It has the advantage that a large part of the world is already using it. And our documents would never go out of date... Regardless what format or device they get stored on in the future, if any.
