which color combination/furniture/light is appropriate for a room?

i am new in 3DsMax. i mainly learned ArchViz related work. My modeling is good enough but my environment setup of any scene is very very bad. Lighting & color combination is also washed out. How can i learn about "which furniture is appropriate for a room?". or which color combination is good for a room..? Is there anybody to solve my criteria ?
