We have an ambition to create from scratch a mobile map UI component, which would focus not on geographical data but on incorporated content - i.e. icon+text pieces, arranged according to where they were posted (basically messages from physical locations).
The SVG+javascript technology, that we are using, allows to have animations and support variety of gestures. We think to add some slow blinking (could be discount icon in the example) and make text pieces swipeable - so that you can browse through a list of messages not leaving the map and not interrupted by popups.
We try to reinvent how non-geographical data is presented on maps, and consciously omit smaller geographical details.
So do you think the concept is viable? Do you perceive it as natural, not offending the eye?
Thanks!
