Illustrator shortcut CTRL key only works on left side of keyboard? right side broken :(

In Illustrator CC, My RIGHT side CTRL key doesn't seem to want to work with zooming in and out of the canvas. The LEFT side CTRL key works just fine.

I know its nothing much, but my muscle memory in my hands for keystrokes really helps me speed up my workflow.

What could be wrong, any tips on fixing this?

The CTRL key works in lets say chrome with zooming in and out for larger text, so the key works. Could the right CTRL key be associated with a 3rd party app already open like snagIT or ACDSEE ?
