How to correct InDesign overset text from threading text?

In InDesign at the end of a textframe there is some remaining text (from threading text) that throws an overset text error and to resize the textframe. I've read that double clicking the text frame would solve the issue but it prompts to apply the text in a new frame. Is there a way to take the existing text in the current textframe and turnoff or stop all remaining text and errors?

If it helps I am not the original creator and it appears someone stopped and inserted a new page with content into the sequence and didn't continue with the threading. The only correction appears to be to create a text box off the pages and click the red box: enter image description here and apply the remaining thread to the textframe off the pages.

So my question is within InDesign can you turnoff the remaining content from threading text without effecting the current content on the pages?
