What's a good "not black" black / dark-gray?

I'm trying to find a good balance between black and gray where I can still say it's black, but not so dark as to not look like #000000 black; it shouldn't be identified as gray either.

To be used in a once pure black-and-white logo picture. I personally think pure black -- or pure anything -- looks a bit weird in this context.

Hopefully the answer comes in the form of a hex code or something comparable.
