What can a SolidWorks user expect from Alias and Rhino

I am not sure that this applies to graphic design, but I think this is the closest stack exchange site for my question.

I have been using SolidWorks for a while. However, from what I understand there are other programs that might be better for organic surface modeling. I am considering studying either Alias or Rhino. I am curious what the difference is between those two in their approach to surfaces.

Again, my apologies if this is not a true graphic design question.
