In InDesign CS4 I used to be able to do a layout placing TIFFs and sometimes they ended up being too large for my needs in the end. When the layout becomes approved I would go into Photoshop and change the size and dpi of the image until I had 300dpi at target size in the InDesign file. Then, I would go back into InDesign and update and relink the image. The image never changed size or crop within its box and updated the image to its new size. This gave me streamlined file sizes for uploading them to the printer. However, in InDesign CC when I do this, it updates the image and makes it come in smaller, and in a different spot. I end up having to resize it and recrop it. This is dangerous. I might not get the same crop I had before due to not being able to see what was there before anymore. Why has this functionality changed? Can I get it back? This is something I used to do all the time and it saved me lots of time and now it's causing me panic attacks and costing me more time.
